SAVING GRACE,This WONDERFUL Mother was dumped with her 11 puppies with no food or water. It was some time before she was found, no one knows for sure how long she was there. Gracie was weak when they found her , nothing but skin and bones but her puppies were fine. It seems Gracie gave all she had for her puppies, like any loyal devoted mother. She stayed by her puppies, protecting them from harm and feeding and caring for them. Never leaving them ,not even to find food for herself, she stayed by their side.
The people who found her felt there was nothing they could do but take her to the open-end shelter but at the shelter they had no place for her and 11 puppies. They could not provide her with the care she needed , Gracie and her puppies would have to be put down, it seemed all that Gracie gave to keep her puppies alive had failed.
The ALARM went out to SAVE GRACIE and two No-Kill rescues groups worked together to find a foster that would take in Gracie and her 11 puppies. There was a lot to think about, the foster would need food , supplies and special needs for Gracie and her 11 puppies. A vet. would need to be consulted, Gracie and her puppies would need to be vaccinated ,wormed, and Gracie Heart worm tested. Finding a foster that would take on such a responsibility ,was not as difficult as they had thought. Gracie and her puppies were given a second chance, a chance to live and be loved.
TWO weeks after Gracie and her puppies moved in to their new foster home Gracie came down sick with a fever and had to be removed from her puppies. Taken from the puppies she loved so very much, the puppies she would have died for, Gracie had a fever and could not put on weight.A new foster was found for Gracie and a visit to the vet.was put in place. Medication was provided for Gracie and a new plan was set in place. Gracie, would go to live in the country, with our very best foster. There she will stay until she has fully recovered and is again the beautiful Chocolate Lab that she was ment to be.
Grace's puppies are still under going care, they have received their first shots and have been wormed, they will be up for adoption when they have had all three of their shots and are in good vet. certified health.
